what password is required for me to update the Mac OS

I'm trying to update software on my MacBook. Before I can update I'm asked for a password. I have tried ever Apple related password to no avail. What password is required? I do not have this issue with my iPhone or iPad.

MacBook Air, macOS 13.0

This should only require your main admin account login password. The one you used when you setup the first time.

Make sure you are logged in as the original admin account. Or you could try it while logged into Safemode: Using your admin account password:
