Perhaps try and remove the phone number; reset (make new) the
password again. Then try this process over. iPhones generally are
not capable of being hacked. Changing passwords often helps.
Too much is left un-secure, if you aren't taking charge yourself.
This much is expected of any newer more secure systems.

Fake email or fake messages lure folks into changing theirs too.
