macOS system reinstall

I have an old imac with macOS Catalina 10.15.7. If I use Shift-Option-Command-R during startup for reinstall, will all my data deleted, do I need to back up my data?

You should always have a backup or two, that being said, reinstalling the OS should not bother your Data.
