Ipad Air 5

I recently purchased the Ipad Air 5th gen 256 GB 10.9 inch device which I love except for my disappointment that I couldn't find how to add widgets to the lock screen. I have now since read on this Apple Community page that it is unavailable in OS16 but I do have this capability on my iphone 12 with IOS 16. As I am vision impaired I love using the widgets for battery, calendar etc as they are ofter larger font etc and more easily noticed and read. I hope Apple include this in a future OS update.

Unlike iOS16 for iPhone, iPadOS 16 for iPad does not support lock screen customisation. Likewise, the new active Astronomy and Weather Wallpapers are currently exclusive to iOS16.x for iPhone.

Apple have indicated that the ability to customise the Lock Screen will be available in iPadOS17. However, until released later this year, nobody can be sure as to what the final feature-set will be. A lot can change between now and final release.

Thank you both for your replies. I am enjoying getting acquainted with my new iPad air but having trouble understanding why airdrop is only working when I select the option of everyone and not on the contacts only. I don't want to use iCloud for storing photos so have the sync functions turned off. I only want to airdrop certain photos I select from my iPhone to airdrop to my iPad. So when I select a photo on my phone I know to tap the share button and then select airdrop which only has a little red number 1 showing it detects another device nearby when I have the 'everyone' setting on. The iPad shows with my name iPad (2) with contacts only setting but when it is on 'everyone' it shows up again under heading of 'other people'. Could this mean my new iPad is not connected to my account ? not sure what to try in order to be able to use with the contacts only setting, so I suppose the iPad is not recognized as a contact on my iPhone .....

me again sorry, so in my lunch break i went to the local Optus store and Mymac store and sounds like it I can have airdrop work with the 'everyone for 10 minutes' setting then just do that and not worry about why airdrop doesn't work when I select 'Contact Only'. I only wondered if there was an issue I could fix but not to worry at least something works.
