SSD protection with password, OS 13.4.1.

I have just put a password on my new portable ssd samsung t7 and after the first attempt, I did indeed have to put in the password. Strange enough, the password was not required after the first attempt which makes me wonder if it's protected. I have no other devices to test this with right now but I wonder if data on disk is now safe with my password or not. How do I test it?

I tried to go to disk utility to forget the device in case this is the issue but cannot seem to find my way around

Hey there! I figured it out!

It's definitely locked as I tried to erase it and it asked me to enter a password.

If it is not asking, it is either not encrypted, or you saved the password into the keychain.

The Info in Disk Utility should show if it is encrypted or not. If it is, then the password was saved in your keychain.

No, I was supposed to type it everytime.

Perhaps I could ‘forget’ the disk without erasing things on it. I just need to know if its safe with password or not.

Any other ways to check this?

When I press get info, it says somewhere format APFS encrypted?

Also in the very first window of Get Info, it gives the option 'Decrypt'?

Any ideas what to do? :) Thank you!
