How to share device location with different Apple IDs?

I own two iPhones in different regions, with different phone numbers and Apple IDs.

I would like to see both in my "Find My" app as devices.

Whenever I try to add them, I get the following error:

"Cannot Share: You cannot share with yourself."

I managed to share my location as a person, but I prefer to have them both visible as a device instead. Similar to how it looks for my other devices or family sharing. How can I do that?

Hi JKrzaczek,

If we understand, you are wanting both devices to appear in Find My like it does with the Family Sharing location you have set up.

Sharing locations with family and friends does not add the device's serial to Find My in iCloud, this would be considered sharing personal data.

With the two devices being in two different regions, they will not be able to part of a Family Sharing together since countries and regions offer different services through the App Store and iTunes Store.

We hope this helps answer the question for you. If not, reach back out and let us know more details about what you are wanting to see.

Take care!

Hi JKrzaczek,

We see you came from Set up Find My on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac

If it says you cannot share with yourself when you try this, that would imply that at least in part, the same Apple ID is being used in some fashion on each device.

We'd make sure they are not the same first, then try sharing following the steps outlined in Find people and share your location with Find My

Cheers.

As mentioned, the devices run on different Apple IDs. I had to remove them both from my own contact in the contacts and create a separate person in my contacts with the other ID. I was able to share the location between those accounts, but it shows up as a person. I don't want that. I want them to show up as specific devices, exactly the same way they show up for my family sharing.
