Why has the audio stopped playing in Safari?

Any website with audio, I can't hear. Like it is muted.

Hello rob fromnull,

Be sure to check and see if any other apps on the device are able to play audio successfully, as that'll help to see if it's a broader issue or if Safari is the only affected app.

If you're on a Mac you may try right-clicking/Control-clicking the Safari tab when audio is playing and see if it says 'Mute tab' or 'Unmute tab'. If it does say unmute go ahead and choose that.

This page can assist with some steps that can help with sound not playing from the speakers as well: If you can’t hear sound from your Mac speakers - Apple Support

If you’re using your computer’s built-in speakers
1. Unplug any headphones or external speakers.
2. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Sound  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
3. Click Output on the right. Make sure [Mac model] Speakers is selected, the “Output volume” slider is not all the way to the left, and the Mute checkbox is not selected.

Cheers.
