Transferring a phone number from iPhone 7 to iPhone 14

I am trying to transfer my phone number from my iPhone 7 to my new iPhone 14 so I can send and receive messages. I understand that iPhone 14s don't use physical sim cards and instead use eSIMs. However eSIMs aren't available for iPhone 7s. Is there a way for me to transfer my iPhone 7's phone number to my iPhone 14?

iPhone 7, iOS 15

Hi agsapple13,

It appears that the eSIM transfer feature is only available if both devices use iOS 16, while the iPhone 7 only supports iOS 15.

If you don't get the prompt to setup eSIM when you setup your device, you will need to contact your carrier to activate your eSIM.
