Microphone off for calls, but not when on speaker.

When I receive or make a call I cannot hear the other party. However, it works fine when on speakerphone.

Re: "Microphone off for calls, but not when on speaker".

You might want to check that you have the latest iOS version installed on your iPhone:

About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support - Apple Support says 16.6 is the latest version.

If you have already updated to the latest iOS version:

If your phone isn’t working right, (or as it used to work) try re-starting it:

How to: Turn iPhone on or off - Apple Support

More trouble-shooting, if needed:

Seems, on iPhone, the volume may need to be adjusted while you are actually on the call.

Apple support's article: While on a call on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says

"When you’re on a phone call:

Adjust the audio during a call

To change the volume, press the volume buttons on the side of iPhone"

You can check that there is no phone-cover, or speck of dirt or wax, blocking you from hearing clearly.

If you are still not hearing clearly:

You could try turning off "Low Power" mode if you have it turned on.

Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"To turn Low Power Mode on or off, go to Settings > Battery. You can also turn Low Power Mode on and off from Control Center. Go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, then select Low Power Mode to add it to Control Center."

Else:

You might want to try using either cellular or wi-fi

(ie: see if there is any difference in hearing and being heard on a call)
