CarPlay Google Maps Navigation volume too loud when on a phone call

I've been using Google Maps for navigation with Apple CarPlay in my Mazda CX-5, and if I'm on a phone call the navigation volume goes to maximum. If I try to turn down the volume of the Navigation, it also turns my phone call volume down (to zero). The volume returns to normal after I end the phone call. I can't find a way to adjust this in control panels -- is there a way to correct this?

Hey there Robaato72,

There are a few things you'll want to take a look at.

Ensure iOS and the Google Maps are both fully up to date. This step will ensure there are no issues regarding the installed versions of either.
1. Update iOS on iPhone
2. How to manually update apps on your Apple device
Check for the same issue when using Apple Maps instead of Google Maps. This step will help to isolate the behavior to either the app or iOS.
If the issue does not persist when using Apple Maps, you'll want to check your Google Maps settings. This may require working directly with Google support, if you are unsure how to check.
If the same issue occurs with both apps, you will want to check your volume settings in your car.
