Accidentally added funds to Apple ID rather than Apple Pay

So I accidentally added funds to my Apple ID and I saw that there is no other way to refund or transfer back onto the card, and I do not wish on spending it on any Apple apps or products, how can I get it back?

iPhone 14 Plus, iOS 16

You need to contact Apple Support to request a refund.

See -> Check your Apple Account balance -> Check your Apple Account balance – Apple Support (UK)

scroll to ⤵️

If you have an Apple Account balance that you can’t use

You can't redeem or return Apple Gift Cards, App Store & iTunes Gift Cards or unused Apple ID balance for cash, except as required by law. If your jurisdiction allows the refund of redeemed gift balances, you can contact Apple Support to request a refund

When you contact Apple, include the following information:

•               Your Apple ID.

•               The refund amount.

•               Your current delivery address.

apple runs circles around us with this Apple ID balance BS. They should clearly state Apple ID is not Apple Pay. Idk why they are so similar in name and nature and also suggested by apple wallet. Being suggested by apple wallet alone makes a person think it’s Apple Pay.

then they make it nearly impossible to find support for their lousy and likely intentional misdirection.

My money is locked up and I cannot figure out how to get a refund. I cannot believe this is legal! Apple is in with the credit cards too, as when I called them to refute the charge they said only Apple can help. I get refunds all the time from the same CC if there is a charge issue from another merchant.

Since your post has nothing to do with the question the OP and also the successful resolution verified by the OP, I would suggest you post a new question as it makes no sense posting here on a completely different topic.

For starters, I would also include in your new post about what refund you are attempting. Apple does not get involved with any decision a bank or credit card company makes, in fact that would be illegal and Apple only provides the information requested from your Credit Card company. While many disputes are possible through your card for fraud, the companies are well aware that purchases on your iPhone require authentication through either biometrics or your Passcode which you are responsible for. It is difficult to say a purchase was fraudulent when they know the authentication method was used.

If you feel that your credit card company is not treating you fairly and you are in the US, you can file a complaint against them with the CFPB and in most cases you will get a response in 15 days. That will give you a chance to state your case with the Federal Government and the credit card company must also provide the information they have to show that a dispute is not warranted.
