you should also review the requirements for each version of the MacOS… what/which Mac works with it? And what/which ones don’t… when you find one that does, download and install it… i don’t know the year, model or kind of MacBook Pro 13” you have, i know almost nothing, apart from the fact you have one, you have Sierra/High Sierra and you want to update/upgrade it

According to MacTracker, the 13-inch 2017 MacBook Pros came with macOS 12.5 (Sierra), and can run the latest version of macOS (Ventura).

There were 2-Thunderbolt-port and 4-Thunderbolt-port models, but the OS compatibility for both is the same.

The Sonoma Preview page says "MacBook Pro (2018 and later)", so for these 2017 MacBook Pros, Monterey is the end of the line.

Note that Catalina and later will not run 32-bit applications.
