mail, not functioning correctly.

I am having issues with my mail programme, I either have to wait an age for emails to open on the Mac, IF they open at all, or I have to read my email on my iPhone instead.

ALSO, when I delete something I have read, it seems to take quite a while to delete it, during this time I have the spinning beachball and can do nothing else but wait.


Can my mail programme be deleted and then reloaded/installed?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.6

Funnily enough after I'd posted my original questions, I had a look in Email accounts and found that both needed fresh verification, after I'd done that the situation is better.
