Updated to Ventura on MacBook. Now Screenshots does not work

This morning I updated MacBookPro to Ventura. Which went fine. Except that now Screenshots do not appear on the desktop any more. They were working fine yesterday. Following advice I have read, here and elsewhere, I have tried Safe Boot and I have checked that all the options in Preferences are on and I have clicked Restore Defaults. I have also thrown out the Preference file from the Library. Nothing seems able to bring Screenshots back.

You do not say updated from what(?) to Ventura...

See Options

Shift Command 5

ref: Take screenshots or screen recordings on Mac - Apple Support

make some changes and compare your results.

Once Options are set I prefer to use the

screenshots —

Shift Command 3

Shift Command 4

Take a screenshot on your Mac

I will say if you are using something like: OneDrive, GoogleDrive, BackBlaze or DropBox

check those settings— because they can usurp your screenshots to those third party locations
