'Forward delete' not working in Ventura

For 18 years on a Mac of one variety or other, I've been able to forward delete by hitting fn+delete. Last month I upgraded an old Air to a MacBook Pro/Ventura, that doesn't work. Changing options to "Do nothing" does exactly that. "Change Input Source" just kicks me into another language keyboard. Don't need emojis in work documents.

What am I missing! This is really affecting my productivity and I am regretting upgrading.

Thank you so much, dialabrain! fn works the way I need it to now! Having a Greek

keyboard on my old Air must have confused the fn key when I migrated to the Pro

last month. I found out how to undo that easily enough but searching the

Support discussion didn’t turn up anything helpful. I didn’t even notice the

Restore Defaults button, and might not have tried it w/o double-checking with

Apple anyway it implies I’d made the change on purpose and then wanted to

revert.
