New Paragraph when Texting on IPhone

Is it possible to start a new paragraph in a text message using a iPhone. When I hit the return key, it sends the message.

ARe you sure you hit return key and not the green/blue arrow to send the message?

Hitting the enter key started a new paragraph for me on sms, mms and imessage.
