How do I deregister my laptop from iMessages?

I have been receiving messages to my laptop instead of my phone.

I have an android phone and have never had an iPhone.

A couple of people in my contacts have iPhones, and sometimes when they text me, I don't receive the text. I do receive a message on my laptop. I have no idea why this happening or how to stop it. I don't want to receive texts on my laptop.

"I found this info: 'If someone sends a message using iMessage to your Apple ID, you'll get it on your other Apple devices.' But how are people getting my Apple ID? And can I prevent that from happening?"

You are in their Contacts List:

These people like have you as a contact. So, they will see this, when they receive your info --nothing can be done on your end --that is their own account --not yours.
