iPhone 15 pro max trouble showing iCloud back up images and attachments in iMessage

I am having the same exact problem and it’s been a week now and still no change. No photos showing up in the info of my messages. This is very frustrating because I have changed phones many times and have never had this problem. Apple needs to fix this. I don’t want to scroll back 2 years through a message to find pictures and who has time for that

I’m having the same problem. It’s been 3 weeks. I have had a case open with Apple with no resolution. I have to return my old phone as part of my promo deal next week and I am going to lose so much. It’s only iMessages that seem to be affected.

I erased my new phone twice and restored from iCloud and by doing the phone cloning thing with the blue circle. Each time, messages come back in slightly different pieces. I have messages that come back from conversations I’ve deleted and contacts I’ve blocked a couple of years ago, but I can’t get back conversations from this summer.

I’ve never had this problem before switching iPhones. I pay for 2TB of storage there is plenty of storage so that’s not the issue.

I’m really disappointed.

I had the same issue and this seems to have worked for me:

1) Go to Settings

2) Click iCloud

3) Click Photos

4) Click "Download and Keep Originals"

All my text messages now show. It did take a day or two to populate after the upgrade t the 15 Pro. The photos and gifs are also there, but I have to tap each one to download to show and save.

Be patient, if the messages are in your iCloud storage they will sync but it needs time. Messages and photos can be a huge amount of data which all has to be dragged over the internet to your new phone. You should not worry even if it takes a few days to complete the process.

I am having a similar issue but not with all contacts. I receive a text from one of my contacts and it didn’t even show on my iPhone 15 Pro. The person’s message and gif did not show but my response did. When I checked my old phone the contacts message, gif and my response were all there. Also, the conversation history only went back a few months on the new phone but went back years on the old phone.
