The wifi on my iMac 2017 (running macOS Ventura 13.6) doesn't work, only the ethernet does. I can't toggle on wifi in the menu bar, and when i go to wifi under system preferences, none of my wifis are showing up. This have been a problem the past two years, and i have now factory reset my iMac, but the wifi still doesn't work. All of my other devices do not have problems with the wifi.
If you cannot toggle on wifi and it is greyed out, this is most likely a hardware issue with the internal wifi adapter I am afraid.

I have this same issue on my 21" 2017 iMac... sometimes WiFi works and sometimes it does not.
I'm running 13.6.1 but this has occurred for the last year or so.
Obviously, the wired connection is faster but WiFi is needed for Airdrop or if I move my iMac away from the wired network
Most of the time rebooting fixes the issue other times I need to do a SMC/PRAM reset and that does the trick.

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
For OSX 13+ substitute System Settings for SystenPrefs...
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Sys Prefs>Network>highlight the Interface you're using>Advanced>TCP/IP>Configure IPv4: Using DHCP.
If using Wifi, instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
System Preferences>Network>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.
System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Same with 2017 iMac. Took it to Apple Store for check. Technician couldn't find anything wrong and had no problem connecting to the store’s wifi. Couldn’t explain why it didn’t connect to my home wifi despite my family’s iPhones, iPads and the TV having no problem doing so. Said it must be a hardware problem with the iMac which would be expensive to diagnose and may not resolve issue. Suggested buying a new iMac.
Is your iMac normally situated where it has to use WiFi to connect to the internet? Ethernet is faster and more secure if you can use it all the time.
It's not greyed out, it just toggles back by itself, but i guess you're still right, since i've tried everything else, and i thought factory resetting would fix it, but it didn't. Thanks! :)
