Can't Upgrade from Rental to Purchase!!!
Apple's standards have clearly declined, over the years! I am stunned, by how many functions have been removed from TV app, since iTunes break up! Among other things, I could talk about the horrible search feature or the fact that new items added to playlist is automatically added to the end of the list, rather than being added where I drop them in the list, which is how iTunes used to work for as long as I can remember!
Anyway, in this post, my concern is that, while Apple has been busy removing or downgrading features, there has been a need for one feature that Apple has never bothered to implement. Specifically, for some reason, Apple has never added a way to let users upgrade from rental to purchase! But, why not, if Apple is so focused on making money? As it is, I have to wait 2 days for rental to expire, before I can purchase. But this countdown doesn't even start, unless I start playing the video. If I don't start playing, looks like rental just sits there, indefinitely, without the ability to purchase.
I should be able to click a button. And, ideally, I would be charged the difference between rental and purchase, to make this upgrade, especially if rental is still active. But even if rental has expired, if they wanted to, Apple could charge the difference, if user decides to purchase something previously rented. If anything, this would be a nice selling point.
But I would be willing to pay full price, if I change my mind about renting vs purchasing, since that is what I would have to do under the existing system, anyway. The problem is that, sometimes, I am on the fence about renting or purchasing. But, once I start watching, I will sometimes realize that I should have purchased, rather than rented. In fact, sometimes I change my mind [as I did, in this case], before I even start watching. But, again, as it is, Apple is NOT prepared to accommodate this change of mind!
