Apple Mail - 'remove attachments' is greyed out

I can not reproduce the issue.

—You can try quitting Mail and relaunch it holding the Shift key down.

I don't think that you are doing anything wrong. In my experience, the remove attachments commands has almost never worked...

As I was replying, I went and tried again. Guess what: I was able to remove attachments from some three or four messages, and then in one very similar it was greyed out again...

If the file attachment is an Embedded Attachment in the Body of the message.

Perhaps the Remove Attachment can not work and will only remove the entire message ?
