iPhone 15 Pro connectivity issues: wifi and AirPlay

I upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 17. Since the change, my wifi cuts out constantly and AirPlay devices aren't showing up reliably (e.g., a HomePod mini when I'm standing next to it). No other devices on my network are experiencing wifi connectivity issues and they can all interact with each other via AirPlay, so the issue is clearly the phone, iOS 17, or both. I still reset the other devices, reset network settings on my phone, and reset the router for good measure. My phone never connects to my HomePod, even in Homekit. I suspect all three issues (wifi reliability, AirPlay, and Homekit) are all related, and the phone/iOS 17 is the common denominator.

I’m having issues too. Issues persist on other WiFi connections too. No VPN, no Private Relay. Issue is also present on my M3 Max MacBook Pro.

Hi there,

My husband and I both upgraded to an iPhone 15 pro max, but we had iOS 17 before and we were already having problems connecting via AirPlay with our old phones (11 and X) when we upgraded to the new iOS. Now with the new phone it even seems worse and today I’ve just connected to our amp via Bluetooth to listen to music via a music streaming app - I thought fine, I’ll go old school - and as soon as I opened Instagram, or started cutting out! On Bluetooth! And I was not on the WiFi (to circumvent airplay) so it's not a network issue. Hopefully Apple can release a software fix for this soon!

Hello redbeered,

Are there any profiles, VPNs or security software installed on the device? For profiles and VPNs these can usually be found in Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. If any are installed you may try temporarily uninstalling each to see if that has resolved things, as this can help rule out them from being conflicts.

Also try forgetting the Wi-Fi network and then reconnect to it, as that can help in some instances (Settings > Wi-Fi > Tap the (i) next to the network > Forget This Network. Be sure to note down any needed Wi-Fi passwords ahead of time.

If the issue occurs on one particular network, it can be beneficial to try it out on another private Wi-Fi, such as in a friend's home, for example. That can see if it's isolated to the existing network or if it's broader.

Lastly, if you use iCloud Private Relay try temporarily disabling this (Settings > [name] > iCloud > Private Relay). If this one does seem to resolve things then you'll want to reach out to Apple Support for a further investigation: Apple Support

Cheers.
