If you're sure that nothing (case/cover, screen protector, dirt) interferes with your front camera (remove any obstacles, if present), see this support article:--> If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro and/or this one:--> If an alert says Face ID has been disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro

If the issue persists, after performing all the steps provided in the above support articles, contact Apple Support directly, using this specific link:--> https://getsupport.apple.com/?caller=kbase&SG=SG003&category_id=SC0999&symptom_id=23303 , or make an appointment and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region. After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

If so, and if they didn't diagnose any problems on your iPhone, and if you already tried (to no avail) ALL the steps provided in the support article:--> If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro , I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

• Online:--> Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple;
• Contacting a local Apple Store or AASP among the list provided above;
• Using the "Apple Store" app, available and downloadable from AppStore.

I was having the same problem after updating to ios 16.7. Online solution did nothing. Took it to Genius Bar and they couldn’t fix it by restoring iPhone. Despite it working great prior to 16.7, the only option they gave was to spend $300 dollars on new Face ID camera, but they said there was no guarantee that would work. Rather than spend $300 bucks, I order a new iPhone 15 Pro Max and traded the 13 Pro Max in. So far, this was a great decision! The 15 Pro Max is lighter, fits better in the hand, is much faster, and the cameras are awesome. Good luck with whatever you decide, but if you can afford it- just upgrade. The 15 Pro Max is a much better iPhone.

Mine working again after cleaning minor smudge from top of screen. Perhaps iOS 17.0.3 tightened up acceptable image clarity. Thanks all!
