Sync notes between devices

Notes I create on my iphone are not syncing to my macbook. I have notes using Icloud (turned on) in settings for both devices. Any suggestions?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.2

Make sure the notes are listed under iCloud, and not “on this iPhone”. Notes can be grouped either locally, or synced to iCloud (or to other email providers if you have additional accounts).
