Can I use a Seagate backup plus Ultra Slim to backup my MacBook Pro?

My MacBook Pro does not have a USB port - only Thunderbolt 3 ports. What kind of connector do I need to get to use the portable storage device that needs a USB port?

Your Apple laptop with USB-C supports both Thunderbolt 3 and USB3 protocols. To use an older style USB device, then you need to use a USB-C to USB-A Adapter such as this one from Apple:

Yes. You can use one --you'll just have to format it to APFS using Disk Utility, prior to creating a Time Machine Backup.
