How to reset Apple ID if you cannot answer the security questions

In my workplace we have an old iPod that is being used to pipe music around parts of our building.

The iPod has started to fail and as they are no longer manufactured by Apple, we want to move the iTune account to a Windows device.

Unfortunately the iTunes account was created by a member of staff that has left the company. We know the email that was used to create the account, and have been able to reset the password. However, we cannot access the account as it requires us to answer the security questions. We don't know the answers to the security questions as only the staff member that created the account knows them and didn't document them.

The problem is that we cannot reset the security questions, as in order to do so we are required to validate who we are, which ironically involves answering the security questions. So we are stuck in a loop.

Has anyone had this situation and how do you validate you are the account owner (in this case the business), so you can reset the security questions?

Nirvana,

If the normal procedures to regain access to the account are not sufficient, you can call out the "big guns" as described in here:

Note that to protect security, certain verifications will be required.

Hi ed2345,

Thank you for your reply but in this case resetting the password is not the problem. We need to reset the security questions but cannot as Apple require a user to be able to answer at least one of the security questions before allowing the user to change all of them.

We don't have the answers to the security questions, so how do we verify who we are so we can change them

Nirvana,

Extracting a library when the iPod is the only copy is quite a hairy operation. If you want to see what is entailed, see this procedure by Forum member turingtest2:

It is much easier to copy a library from an old computer to a new computer and then sync the iPod, but of course it requires the old computer to be accessible.
