Luv Share App from Apple Store problem

Hi, I purchases a flash drive that requires the use of the Luv Share app. They work in conjunction. The app has two areas to save photos/videos:

  1. Internal drive
  2. External drive

My iphone: iphone 13, iOS 17.1

To transfer files to the flashdrive, I need to use the External drive. This drive has been a problem. First, when I tapped it, nothing happened until one day I figured out to insert the new flashdrive into my computer & let Windows format it. Once that occurred, I saved several videos to it.

But this time when I want to save 1 screenshot to the External drive, I get this:

Error

External: open file error.

path = /

and a whole bunch of alpha/numeric until it ends with .jpeg.

The screenshot has been saved in the Photos app that Apple provides. I wondered if the screenshot, even tho it is a jpeg was causing the error. So I exited and then chose a regular photo taken by my camera and I got the same error.

If I select Continue I get the same result. I am one who will research the problem until I get a solution but I cannot find a definitive answer! Others do experience this problem.

I am not tech savvy anymore. The terms change and so does the tech so in replying if you use a term, can you kindly put into parenthesis the definition of it or I will try to search the definition if that is too much to ask for.

I would abandon using the Luv Share app if I could. I am tethered to it since the flashdrive only works with it. This has not been a very good experience due to the errors & lack of support by the developer. So this is important to get assistance. I appreciate anyone who can lend their knowledge.

Thanks!

I contacted Apple support - after 30 minutes of them trying to help, they apologized and said there's nothing they can do. I also tried to contact the app developer - all their support is in Chinese - definitely no help there. I've seen various blogs, along with this one, expressing frustration with the same exact problem. Apparently there's no solution: once the flash drive is 10-20% full it will not accept any more photos/videos. DECEPTIVE! Unfortunately it makes me not trust the entire drive, this after I've saved years of old family videos and photos on the drive.

Hi! I am too having this problem and have read through many posts + threads of others with the same issue. In my case, I was able to use about 100 Gb of my 512 gb storage before seeing this god forsaken error code. What I did notice was that I am able to still transfer video (.mov) without any issues. To download all videos I just went to “videos” album > select all > copy to here. I did read that it’s possible to change photo formats within the iPhone settings itself. Once my videos are done importing to the Luv external hard drive I will attempt to change the format of my photos and see if that fixes the issue. I don’t plan to use/rely on the Luv USB as many others have stated they lost files after some time. I will use it only to salvage the videos/pictures that I can and then transfer to another hard drive connected to my pc. I will update if I have any success!
