Block Pop Ups Not Working

I have my phone set up to block pop ups. Yet every single time the moment I search for something I get an annoying “use this page on our app” or “sign in using Google” pop up. I have the apps I want. These can take up 1/2 page. And it happens every time. I don’t need an IMDb app (for instance). I don’t need every single search obviously tied into my google account.

Then there are the pages where videos and ads just take up everything. If I’m looking for a recipe for instance and the actual content is a small portion of a page because the banner keeps dropping low and pop up ads take up the page then that’s useless. And these are sites I used to use before with less problems.

I get that IPhone can’t stop everything but it’s gotten ridiculously how much gets through and how obnoxious & annoying requests for app usages pop ups are.

Thanks 😊 The Google thing I get I suppose though to me a pop is a pop up. But the app pop up on every specific page is tiring. And the ad blocker etc…

A pop up is a pop up…I suppose I think since IPhone offers such a setting and promotes it, it would be better at it. And it just seems to have gotten worse than it used to be. The problem wasn’t as prevalent like 6 months ago

You can't block those because they are not ads. They are how the website wants you to sign into their site.

Hi Shandrika, Did you ever get the pop up problem resolved? I started getting the same thing last week. Every time I search on Google it comes up with “Do you want to use the Google app”. I am so fed up with Google right now. Let me know what worked for you.

That's an entirely different situation. You're not being asked to sign in to a website using your Google credentials. Rather, the browser is asking if you want to use an app instead.

The solution is to use a different search engine that doesn't ask that. Try DuckDuckGo.
