Apple Music playlist covers are blank on iPhone

Hi, a few days ago I made a playlist, but unlike usual, my playlist cover looked blank and didn't automatically contain the album art of the songs I included in it. My other playlists are still normal, but not the playlists I made in the last few days. BTW, I'm currently running on IOS 17, even after I updated to 17.1.1, this still happens. I've restarted and tried creating a new playlist but there's no change. My playlist cover remains blank. I need advice regarding this.

me too. I really hate this update. I want at least the option to have album cover artwork collaged as the playlist cover. The cover album options they give you are so ugly

  1. iPhone: Music > Select song(s) > Add to a Playlist > New Playlist > Save the playlist. Done (so don’t even touch the image section)
  2. Mac: Music > Select song(s) > Add to Playlist > New Playlist > when the playlist comes up, in the IMAGE section, click left to the most left “empty” image with a red + in it > select it > Save the playlist. The album image(s) appear in your playlist!

Solution described doesn’t work on iphone ios 17.3.1. So if you create a new playlist and don’t pick an image it won’t save. If you pick the red image and don’t select anything, it shows the album covers, and then it reverts to the first default image.

Not too sure why Apple has these communities when most of the time, they never listen to the public’s thoughts and opinions.

Ive noticed many ppl are not happy with the playlist “update” that was released some time last year in November. At first I thought it was a bug and that it would be fixed soon. It is now almost March of 24 and we still have these garbage playlist covers. With this update back in November, Apple felt it would be a great idea to get rid of the 4 album playlist default and give some garbage gradient covers that are so bleak and plain. Apple stopped caring about their music. They used to care so much more in the IPod and IPod touch era. Please bring back the 4 album cover as an option for ppl. Not sure if there is a bug or which moron presented this idea but it is by far the worst. A great idea would’ve been maybe 6 album covers or moving/animated ones how they do with artists album covers. Apple has stopped caring about their audiences opinions a long time ago. To music heads such as myself, album covers are so special. I rather see the album covers than plain blank simple garbage playlist covers. Spotify offers such great ideas.m when it comes to their music. It blows my mind because Apple Music existed way before Spotify became a thing. I hate to admit but it seems Spotify has topped Apple Music. Please listen to these so called communities more and stop chasing money and what sells. You guys have more than enough and you would have more if you gave us what the ppl ask for. I have more playlists I have created since this update and they look so plain and boring. Please bring this option back. If this was read by anyone thank you for your time and please take some action on this. At first it seemed the cover was going to stay but when I went back to add more music it defaulted to this garbage cover. I’ve been a long time fan of Apple since the iPod era and it hurts to see that they disappoint so much over the last few yrs. I hope you guys come up with better updates in Apple Music such as built in EQ. More creativity options. If you guys are hiring for the Music Department please hire me ! Thanks again for your time.

Okay guys real time update, all of us could agree that the covers when making a playlist on apple music is not really our style, so i was making a playlist on my macbook so it syncs immediately to my playlists on my phone and voila the album covers are back!!! so the way to have those covers back instead of those random patterns is making a playlist through your macbook's apple music.

yeah I am really missing that old style. I thinks it’s really cool that they’ve got those new ones… but I’m not necessarily a fan of them myself. I’ve been making playlists for the past 5 years, I’d rearrange the top 4 songs to make a pretty neat album cover… now I can’t continue my pattern. Please can that also just be an option? Or how about you can choose 4 songs from the playlist to be in the cover? So it automatically chooses the top 4, but then instead of having to change the order of the songs to customise it, you can just change it from the new cover interface you’ve made?
