Apple TV not showing up in remote app

A few weeks ago, my Apple TV (ios 17.1, Apple TV HD Mode A1625) started to not show up in the remote app on my iphone (13 pro, ios 17.1.1) anymore. My other Apple TV (4k version) still does.

What I tried so far at my apple TV:

  • Power cycle (powerless gor more than 5 minutes)
  • Complete reset to factory defaults and new setup with my iphone
  • Removed iphone from remote devices and repaired again

What I tried on my iphone:

  • Hard reboot (volume up, down, power button)

I see it in my home app and I can click on the remote icon, but when it then switches to the remote app, There is still only the other apple TV in the dropdown menu on top.

Can you explain what you did? I have the same problem. My ATV is connected via Ethernet only and my iPhone 13 can’t connect to it bus the remote app, very frustrating.

After months of having the same issue, I have figured out the solution!!! Apple TVs view Ethernet connections as a separate WiFi network. When you’re trying to use your phone whilst it’s on WiFi wireless, and your Apple TV is on WiFi Ethernet, it can’t detect the TV on the network so shows no devices:) try changing your TV’s connection to a wireless WiFi connection instead, it worked for me!
