My keyboard will not charge beyond about 20% even though I leave it to charge for several hours.
It is still functioning via Bluetooth.
Looking at Bluetooth settings it shows up greyed out.
It is a fairly old keyboard, maybe 6 years old so perhaps the battery is failing.

Based on your description of the issue with your keyboard, chances are that the rechargeable lithium battery in it has reached its useful life.
Although it may be possible to replace this battery yourself, it is not a simple task. Primarily due the the difficulty of removing the back cover, which would have to be removed to access the keyboard's battery. Definitely not recommended, and a new keyboard may be the best solution going forward.
