settings do not save, all manner of sharing options revert back to admin, which is not me. Now my battery depletes in 5 hours, cannot change my privileges to allow me read and write on my own files.. Apple don't install mdm.
If your account is not an admin account then you'll have very limited rights. Depending on who the admin is (maybe someone you know) it could behave in the way you describe. I would speak to the admin account holder of your laptop if I was you to get this resolved quickly
