How do I set up an IMAP account in Sonoma? Everything I try results in a POP account.

If your email provider supports the IMAP protocol, which is likely, enter a wrong password when setting up the account. You'll then be offered to choose either a POP or an IMAP account. Don't forget to correct the password.
That would depend on your ISP ( internet service provider) or e-mail provider… they should have a web page with email settings/setup instructions, including for POP3 setup and IMAP

Thank you to 6x6. Your recommendation was successful to reestablish the IMAP account. The unread count is slightly off with the webmail # but that might be due to having used the POP version for 1-2 days. Interestingly, I chatted/talked with several Apple techs including 3 Senior tech--consuming several hours of my time--resulting in no solution and always directing me to my ISP. Thanks again.
