Mac not showing share by mail option in share extensions for preview

my Mac is not showing Share by Mail as an option in the various menus throughout the OS. The word "Email" and the Mac Mail envelope icon have been replaced by a Chrome icon and the item now says "Email Link". It also does not do anything and cannot be selected. i use Apple mail as my standard email account. Latest Sonoma os version.

Any suggestions as to how to fix?

1.) Open the Apple Mail app

2.) Click on Mail in the top bar next to the Apple logo, then select Settings (or hold the Command key and press ,)

3.) On the General Tab, where it says Default Mail reader drop down list, choose Mail

This is re-enable Sharing to Mail in the Finder.

Chrome may have hi-jacked your Apple Mail Share setting. If in Ventura or later, visit System setttings : Privacy & Security : Extensions : Sharing and see if there is a Chrome entry that you can disable, and if it will let you select Mail. Those efforts should be enough to activate Mail on your Share menu in Preview and other Apple applications. If not, reboot and see if that resolves it.
