backup takes to long
I use time machine and back up takes up to twenty hours

Without more specifics we can't say precisely why this is. Look at the following possible issues.
- How old is the external backup disk? it may be failing. Was it always this slow?
- How is it connected to your Mac? Ideally, it should be directly connected with a USB cable. If over a network, it could be due to the network having a problem.
- I would reformat the disk using Apple's Disk Utility app, not any maintenance app that came with the disk. They cause serious problems such as this. Then reset Time Machine. In my experience the first backup took about 20 minutes. Subsequent backups only take about a minute or so.
