Subscribe auto renewal and not eligible for a refund

I had this subscription to Arcade for awhile that recently expired as I didn’t have the money in my bank to renew it. Before I put money in, I checked to make sure the service was cancelled, it said it was so i added money, but it ended up renewing anyway immediately. I immediately requested a refunded but it said I was ineligible for one and I even did it again explaining this. Why?
