Airport Extreme has an invalid IP adress

My airport extreme is displaying a green light, and is set up as a network extender for another mesh device. However, when trying to connect through ethernet, my system says the device has an incorrect IP address. How do i fix this?

So, is the AirPort Extreme extending the network by connecting to a 3rd party mesh device using only a wireless connection?......or......is the AirPort Extreme extending the network by connecting to the 3rd party mesh device using an Ethernet connection?

I assume that you have a Mac laptop or desktop, correct?

Open AirPort Utility, click on the AirPort Extreme, and then click Edit in the smaller window that appears

Click the Wireless tab at the top of the next window

What is the setting that you see for Network Mode?

I'm confused. Does this mean that you are trying to connect a computer to one of the Ethernet ports on the back of the AirPort Extreme?......or.......does this mean that you are trying to connect the AirPort Extreme to another mesh device using an Ethernet cable connection?

It is set up as a network extender for another Airport device, a base device if you will.

I do not have a Mac device, however, using Airport Utility the device either does not show or when trying to edit the settings returns “Error -6753” and wont show any details.

I am trying to connect a PC to the Airport device through an Ethernet cable from the back.

OK, got that now. Apple never made any "mesh" products at all, so when you said "mesh", I picked that up as a 3rd party product.

There's going to be a problem with a PC, because Microsoft disabled SMB1 with Windows 10 for good reasons......but....the AirPorts use SMB1 protocols to communicate.

So, you won't be able to use a PC to "read" any of the settings on the AirPorts using AirPort Utility on the PC. That's why you see the 6753 error....that is a communication error.

This is also likely the reason....there may be more.....why you can't connect the PC using Ethernet to the extending AirPort Extreme.

As a test......what happens if you try to connect the PC to the "main" AirPort on the network using Ethernet.....not the extending AirPort Extreme?

Do you have an iPhone or iPad handy?

Update to the situation;

The Airport Extreme device is showing up and can be accessed, it is returning an Internet Error (with flashing amber light). When going into the TCP/IP setting, the IP address is completely different to the other Airport devices, and when I click the “Renew DHCP Lease” button, it does nothing. Running ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew through the cmd line also does nothing, as when ipconfig /renew is run, no result is returned.

Power off the "main" AirPort router and then power off the "extending" AirPort Extreme

Wait a minute

Power up the "main" AirPort again and let it run for a full minute

Then power up the "extending" AirPort Extreme

If things are operating correctly, there will be a green light on both AirPorts

If that is the case, try to connect the PC to an Ethernet port on the extending Airport Extreme. If no luck try another Ethernet cable

So far, everything that you are telling us indicates that the Ethernet ports/switch on the AirPort Extreme have failed.

No guarantees.....but if you have the time we can tell you how to reset the AirPort Extreme and try to set it up again using AirPort Utility on the iPhone.

AirPort Utility for the iPhone uses much newer software than the PC version of AirPort Utility that you have now, which was designed to work with Windows 7.
