My Macbook Pro never overheats since I mostly work on text editors and web browsers, and today as soon as I installed macOS Monterey 12.7.3 it started overheating and drained my whole battery (which is fairly healthy) in like 15 minutes.
We need a fix right now, since the fans are on full blast 100% of the time and I feel like this is breaking my computer. Anyone else?
Open Activity Monitor in Utilities> View>All Processes, Energy tab, sort on Energy Impact.
Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?
We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...

Exactly same issue here. Actually it is boiling after some time in sleep and the battery is almost fully drained out. Please provide fix for that issue asap since it is making the Mac useless
You may not believe it, since this seems to have happened right after an update, but usually fans blasting like crazy and still the machine overheating is due to dirt clogging the air vents, and making the fans' task near impossible.
Opening the machine may surprise you - the amount of dirt that can accumulate is er... surprising
I have had exact same issues and never had before updating. I have tried everything, reinstalled O/S system, diagnostics show no problem withe the hardware so I am convinced its a software bug.. HAve been in contact with Apple support but this has not yielded any solution. Its very frustrating
+1, agreed, because after an update or upgrade the OS is building lots of new Caches, doing Spotlight updating, updating other Apps data like Face recognition, etc.
Besides, these things are dust magnets!
Please determine if the same problems occur in "Safe Mode": Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support.
