Do tracks have to be recorded in order to transfer editable projects from iPhone to Mac?

I transferred my projects from my iPhone X onto my 2018 MacBook Pro and can open them in Garage Band but only the tracks that I have prerecorded on my iPhone actually show up with any loops on the project. The only workaround I can think of is to go back and record all my projects on my iPhone and send them again but that would take a long time and some of them are incomplete.

Any wisdom is appreciated.
