How can I download GarageBand 10.4.1?

Trying to download Garageband 10.4 for osx Big Sur 11.7

I didn't install when I got the OS and since I have an older version on my Macbook Pro I can't get a new version from the App store.

Not sure how "loose" it was, that is what Apple calls it:

I have downloaded it a few times in the past. And no it does not show up. When I actually spoke to an Apple person in a Help chat they just kept saying that if I "bought" it it should be there. If it didn't show then I'd need to "buy" it again. They would not understand that it's not related to a purchase - it's free.

I've used Macs since the MacPlus. So, it's not like I'm a rookie. (just venting and not directed at anyone)

The new version of GarageBand requires MacOS13.5 or later. The person you talked to used the word "Purchased" loosely because even free items will show up in your Purchase History. The only way you will be able to download a previous version of GarageBand is if it had been downloaded before, using the same Apple ID, then it will show up in your Purchase History and you will be able to download only that version again.

That is exactly what Apple calls it. I would call it a loose term as a Purchase is generally accepted and defined as "acquiring something by paying for it". Apple could use a more accurate term such as "Download History", but they choose "Purchase History". It is what it is and any items downloaded, whether free or not will be in your Purchase History.
