Startup disk password loop on my MacBook

My laptop was moving slow so I decided to restart the start up disk. It asked me to enter a password to unlock the start up disk, I entered it and the apple log cam with the loading bar. However, it just goes black at the beginning of loading and asks me for the password again. Any ideas on how I can override this?

Hi,

You should run the FirstAid of DiskUtility on your startup drive via Recovery mode booting.
