Installed Sonoma 14.5 - now I can't use Apple Pay

M1 Mac Studio - just installed macOS 14.5 - got an error message to the effect, "Another user has configured Apple Pay on this computer. Only one user is allowed to have Apple Pay enabled on this device at a time. All Cards stored in your wallet have been removed."

I do not have any secondary users on this computer. There is exactly one Admin type user (myself) and Guest User is "off".

In the Wallet & Apple Pay section of System Preferences - Payment Cards -> click "Add card..." - error:

"This Mac requires Magic Keyboard to make purchases using Apple Pay. To continue, set up your Magic Keyboard in Bluetooth Settings."

This seems to be a new requirement. I had been using Apple Pay with my Logitech external USB keyboard - and authorizing transactions with my Apple Watch. Is this an intentional change?

You’re correct. It’s convoluted and reported on multiple sources to work, but I get that it’s not for everyone. I don’t have the issue, I’m just here to share my experience and try to assist. If my possible solution isn’t for you, please contact Apple Support at 1-800-MY-APPLE and work through Apples Support system.

Hey Shred Z - could you confirm your final "working" configuration. Did you leave "allow Payments on Mac" on your iPhone enabled or disabled following the resets? And - once all was fixed, are you able to directly add credit/debit cards to your Mac Wallet without a TouchID enabled keyboard on your Mac Desktop?

Yes, allow payments on phone first. (toggled off then on) restarted phone.

Then restarted the Mac BEFORE I went into settings on Mac for Wallet/ Apple Pay and added the same card that is on my phone. Previously no payment method was on the Mac. All went perfect. I have a MacBook Pro M2 Max. Hope this helps. I never use the wallet on my mac but I might now. It does have Touch ID.
