Finder sync interface not showing Books in my Mac's library

When I try to sync my iPhone or iPad to my Macbook Pro, the finder window for the device does not show anything in my Macbook's Books library. I've got 98 ebooks in my library, and 456 PDFs -- but as far as Finder is concerned, it can't see any of them.

The listing looks like this:

Ever since I upgraded to a new Mini with Sonoma, my Books (mostly PDFs) are not showing up and not syncing with my devices. This is awful for me as a performer since I cannot view my music lyrics on my iPad or even iPhone.

All devices (macOS, iOS on iPhone and iPad) are using the same AppleID.

This worked just fine on my old iMac (macOS12) and I'm beyond irritated that this can't be resolved.

I did call Apple TechSupport ... they couldn't fix the problem.

Now what? Am I out of luck?
