New M2 Ultra Mac Studio Monitor Issue(s) - Doesn't Work with any of my accessories.

To use TWO displays on ONE cable out of a Mac, the port, the cable, and the first device (dock or display) must be genuine Thunderbolt. USB-C has only half the data pathways, and is simply not supported on a Mac.

The Mac does not rely on Windows-like side-loaded "Drivers" which are actually packages of resolutions and settings for a specific display. Instead, it goes straight to the immutable source -- it asks the display itself.

To get a Mac display to become active, you need the Mac to query the display, and the display to answer with its name and capabilities. Otherwise, the display will not be shown as present, and no data will be sent to the display. "No signal detected" is generated by the DISPLAY, not by the Mac.

This query is only sent at certain times:

• at startup

• at wake from sleep — so momentarily sleeping and waking your Mac may work

• at insertion of the Mac-end of the display-cable, provided everything on that cable is ready-to-go

• hold the Option key while you click on the (Detect Display) button that will appear in Displays preferences (from another display)

Trying to run a display through a switch still requires that the display be present and EDID signals connected end-to-end to get the query from the Mac and send the response for the display.

Macs don't support DisplayPort MST daisy-chaining … but HDMI doesn't support daisy-chaining, period. So I'm not sure what you mean about leveraging HDMI to connect two monitors.

Through searching the help articles, people called out Sonoma broke the 'Allow Accessories to connect to Mac' option where it didn't show up or the pop up was so fast, it was unclickable.

That security "feature" is only for Mac notebooks with Apple Silicon processors. Since you have a Mac desktop, it shouldn't be asking you to "approve" accessories at all.

In settings, I can search for that option but it is not available. It takes me to security/privacy but no option. I went through the whole recovery mode and allow security extensions as one user provided that was a helpful solution to no avail. No fix to my monitors, no option in settings available.

There's no option because your Mac doesn't have that "feature". You don't need a way to turn it off, as it already is "off" – just like it was "off" on every Mac ever made before Apple-Silicon-based Mac notebooks came along.

The docks I have used have resulted in some turning on both monitors but 'No PNP recognized' - so 1080p mirrored was my only option.

Some docks nothing, some only allowed one hdmi plugged in.

That one claims to support up to three monitors – if your computer and monitors support DisplayPort version 1.4, Display Stream Compression (DSC), and DisplayPort MST (commonly used for daisy-chaining). Macs do not support DisplayPort MST. The product listing has a note to that effect.

This one requires installation of a DisplayLink driver. Which means that instead of using the first-class hardware-accelerated video output from your very expensive M2 Ultra Mac Studio (which can drive EIGHT displays!!!), you would be using a second-class method to connect your second display.

This one should work. It is a Thunderbolt 4 docking station, with three Thunderbolt 4 downstream ports. It should be possible to connect USB-C (DisplayPort) displays or adapters to up to two of the downstream ports. (But not multiple non-Thunderbolt displays off a single downstream Thunderbolt port.)

I'm not going to bother going through these. Unless they are genuine Thunderbolt devices (doesn't sound like it), they rely either on DisplayPort MST (which the Mac doesn't support), or second-class workarounds (which would require you to install driver software), or both.

What's the deal?

Most of the hubs, docks, and adapters that you have tried are completely unsuitable for the task of connecting your monitors to your M2 Ultra Mac Studio in a way that takes full advantage of its built-in video capabilities.

The Kensington Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station is the only one that looks like it might work, since it is a Thunderbolt dock, and since there are Thunderbolt docks by other suppliers (e.g., OWC, SonnetTech, and/or CalDigit) which can drive two monitors, sometimes in the same way (over two downstream Thunderbolt ports).

did you use all of the four different methods I noted to attempt to obtain a picture?

"not recognized" is not the same as "no Picture"

recognized is on this pane:

 menu >about This Mac > (system Report) > Graphics&Displays

...

Generally, directly connected displays are NOT considered accessories and do not need separate permissions to be used. That line of reasoning is a dead-end.
