iCloud Notes - no media bar on MacBook Pro, but there IS one on iPad

I'm trying to add graphics to an iCloud note. On the MacBook Air, there is NO media bar, so no "pictures" icon. But if I open the SAME note on my iPad, there IS a media bar with its "pictures" icon.

How do I force the media bar to appear in iCloud Notes on my MacBook Air?

(BTW, I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate question; adding it using the iPad refused to work. Great day!)

What account are you notes being synced to on your Mac? Or at least, what account are the notes you're creating being synced to. You can check in the sidebar:

Notes that are not synced to iCloud often don't have the same features. If I try to create a note synced to my Gmail account, I still see the icon to add pictures but it's greyed out.

The screen shot is helpful. I now understand the problem, which I had missed earlier. You're not using the Notes app; you're logging into iCloud.com and going to Notes there. I thought, when you said, "on the MacBook Air", you meant the Notes application. That is my fault for not reading carefully.

No, there is no option there to add photos. I have no idea why Apple didn't include it there but they didn't. Generally, going through iCloud gets you fewer features than using the actual apps.

Use the Notes application installed on your Mac.

TA-DA! DING-DING-DING! We have a winner!

Boy, I would probably have NEVER made the connection. I knew it had worked on the MacBook before, so I was bewildered when it wouldn't today...

Since this is a note I work on frequently, I actually just added instructions to the top to remind myself to use the NOTES app, and why!

Many thanks, and I'm impressed with how much feedback this issue got over a relatively short time.

Good stuff!
