Deceiving Students of Canada

I am a post-secondary student in Canada and I need an iPad for my school work. I bought the new iPad Air, and using the educational savings. So, based on Apple advertising, I am paying for the iPad and get an additional gift card. Based on the receipt I get, that $140 is taken off the final price, and I get that gift card by email. So I pay for the final price without paying for the gift card. I was deceived by Apple marketing. I find out today, I get a transaction for the iPad and the ADDITIONAL gift card.

I went to Apple support and they told me that it is supposed to “zero out” by getting that gift card by email. However, isn’t that the same thing as buying the iPad and then a gift card separately? They advertise as if you save $140 and get a gift card. But you don’t. You just pay for iPad and pay for gift card. If I knew this earlier, I would not get the gift card.

Apple should be ashamed for fooling Canadian university students like this. I would like a refund for the gift card. Apple support said they couldn’t do anything about it. Shame on Apple.

The amount of the gift card is deducted from the price of the iPad, you pay less for the iPad than the full price and are then made to pay for the gift card value separately.

The total adds up to the regular price of the iPad.

If the iPad costs $500 and you get a $150 dollar gift card with its purchase, the invoice will state $350 for the iPad + $150 for the gift card, for a total of $500 which was the price of the iPad originally.
