How to bring uniformity in Grouping for all my iCloud Contact list?

I have several lists in my iCloud contacts. When I click on some of them, there are dividers between each letter of the alphabet which group together all the names beginning with that letter of the alphabet. There's the A names, then the B names, etc. For other lists, the names in the list are all just listed in one big long list with no dividers. Why are some lists displayed one way and others another way? Is it possible to make them all look the same?

I don't know what the number is, but it is based on the number of contacts.

It certainly wouldn't be useful if there were only three contacts.
