hide my email not receiving

I let Apple created a "hide my email" email address. When I sent a letter to this address (using my regular email), I cannot receive the email. How come? I have friends and others to send me emails to this Hide my email address, but I have received nothing from anybody. I checked my iCloud, my MAIL app, my system setting, this Hide my Email address and it's password even show up properly in system setting. I am using Sonoma 14.6, what did I do wrong?

I’d check to make sure you have the forwarding address set to the right place you want the emails to go to: Create and manage Hide My Email addresses in Settings on iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

Change which personal email address to forward to: Tap Forward To, then choose an email address. Options consist of addresses that are available with your Apple ID.

If that doesn’t work, I’d obviously look at the Junk folder for whatever email you have Hide My Email set to forward too. If you’re still not getting the emails, I’d reach out to Apple and see what other troubleshooting they can do.

Thank you, I am doing this on my iMac. It's a sometimes thing. Sometimes, when I email myself to the 'hide my email' address, it will come through, sometimes it take 2 days to come through, and sometimes, it never came through. I have no idea why that is so. I need to find out how to make this work consistently so, for example, you or anyone else, can email me to my 'hide my email' address anytime and I should be able to get it like regular mail. My feeling is Apple is doing something, may be about security? And is defeating the purpose of this hide my email thing. But, may be it's just me. The point is, why sometimes? why do I get an email then I don't? Really strange, eh?
