How to see what is in my iCloud

How do I actually see what is in my iCloud storage? My storage is full and I'm not going to pay more when I can't see what is in there. Is there a way to go through each item and choose to delete or keep? Is there a way to do this and if so, how? Can this be done from my MacBook?

On an iPhone, iCloud is designed to be viewed by using the apps on the device (e.g., the Files app for iCloud Drive, the Photos app for iCloud Photos, the Notes app for notes, etc.). A Mac is similar except that iCloud Drive is accessed via the iCloud Drive folder in Finder.

You can also use an internet browser and log into icloud.com. What you can access via a browser varies by device. See the information in the following Apple article: Which iCloud.com features are available in the browser on your device - Apple Support

Also note that while you can view synced data as described above, it is not possible to view the contents of an iCloud Backup of an iOS device. You can only use the backup to do a full restore of a device or to setup a new device.

Apple also has articles about managing iCloud storage. See: Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support and View and manage iCloud device backups - Apple Support

Thank you for your reply and the info. It's probably me, but I'm still lost and guess there isn't a way to figure it out. I use my phone as a phone to call and text only. I have my MacBook Air and when I click on finder, it just shows "recents" and the articles I've read are confusing as I don't see the same thing. I can't see a darn thing other than what amount of storage is for this and for that, not actually what the stuff is so I can see it and decide to keep or delete it. External hard drive looks like the route I have to go. I'll take all my folders on my desktop and copy to external, and I'll be able to see what's there and if I no longer need something I can delete it since I can see exactly what is on the hard drive. I guess that's what I thought I could do with this iCloud, but doesn't appear to be the case.

I never knew I could change what the finder would display. I learned something new, thank you. I clicked on finder, then changed it to iCloud drive. It shows two folders (Desktop & Documents) and both say "waiting to upload" but the folders are empty. I went to the "Go" menu and it shows the same thing.

Some reasons for that can be a slow internet connection; or if your iCloud storage is full.

Just noticed that your original post stated your iCloud storage is full.
