I just received a iPod (5th generation) from a thrift store with existing photos on it. I would like to do a factory reset but don't have the proper cable to connect to my windows box. Can I erase and reset this without connecting to itunes?

How are you charging it without the cable?
I have the original charging stand. The cable it comes with has a proprietary connector on both ends.
